  • How It Works

    1

    Consultation

I want to hear about your concerns. This is always free and an opportunity for you to hear about the normal variations in a child's speech and language development. Sometimes we just need reassurance or ideas to keep things moving along and if one phone call will do it, then it is my pleasure!

    2

    Evaluation

After consultation, we determine if certain areas or speech or language need to be further evaluated. Evaluation takes about 60 minutes depending on the age and needs of the person. Results will be used to establish goals and baselines for progress. If your child has already had an evaluation somewhere else, those results can often be used.

    3

    Schedule therapy

Together we set goals based on the evaluation and goals of the family. Therapy can be done in your home, daycare, school or virtually.

    4

Ongoing assessment as your child reaches their goals

As your child begins to reach their goals we continually encourage and reassess. Together we determine the need for ongoing therapy, discharge or other needed disciplines like physical, occupational or developmental therapies.

  • Feedback from Parents

"We were referred to Kim two years ago to help with our daughter, who struggles with apraxia of speech. When we first started working with Kim, our daughter had a very small range of words and phrases and struggled pronouncing multiple/basic sounds. Kim worked hard to find how she learned best. She kept her interested and having fun. Kim was so flexible and easy to work with and when we were quickly shut down in a pandemic she came up with new ways to keep practicing with her virtually. I cannot say enough good things about Kim and all the hard work she put in for our daughter. Without her, our child's progression would not be nearly where it is today."

    -Veronica F. (six-year-old child)

"Every time Kim came over for our son Chris' therapy, hewas bouncing with excitement (often literally!). He would run to the door when the doorbell rang, and was excited to play with Kim and her bag full of toys. Kim made his therapy into playtime, and it was almost hard to stop his sessions after he caught up on his language milestones. I felt like we were taking away his friend when we were all done. From the parent perspective, I can say that I felt Kim was good at sharing practical everyday advice for helping Chris learn language--things that we could do at home with him between her visits. I would happily recommend Kim to our family and friends, and if our second child needs speech therapy some day, we know who to call."

    -Alex J. (two-year-old child)

"Mrs. Meyer is knowledgable, adaptable, creative and goal oriented. My child always looks forward to her sessions and has so much fun!"

    -Betsie K. (Five-year-old child)
